Just dropping in with a quick note to say the new sale code is up. Enter SPRING20 at checkout and receive 20% off with a minimum $15 purchase.
I have some layer cakes that will be listed hopefully tomorrow and some fabric remnant pieces. Still listing yardage as I sort through what I have (and it's selling almost as quickly as I can list it!). Please check in over the next week to see what's available.
I'll be back tomorrow with some more baby quilts to show off!

Rainbow Baby Quilt
Here is the first quilt in a new collection I'm trying out called Rainbow Baby Quilts.
I used up a lot of my yellow scraps for this quilt and still it doesn't look like I've touched them! I was hoping to make a dent. Anyway, this quilt was so much fun to make. I enjoyed the whole process so much I thought I'd make a bunch more in all the different color ways. Then I thought, might as well give them all a name, so Rainbow Baby Quilts was born. This one is listed for sale now in my shop under Baby Quilts. I hope to have more of them in a bunch of different color ways listed soon. I'm starting to piece together a purple version today and will probably (hopefully) if time allows, get a blue version done tomorrow. |

Precuts in the Shop
Just wanted to let everyone know I have been sorting through my stash more this week and have tons or charm packs, jelly rolls, layer cakes and some other assorted precut fabric bundles listed for sale. A lot of them are out of print and hard to find so be sure to check them out!
Here are a few of the options I have listed. Some of these I only have 1 or 2 left so if you're interested, please visit my shop and check them out before they are gone. Also, don't forget, all fabrics (this includes precuts and scraps) are still 40% off.

This one is a newer fabric line called Bungle Jungle. I still have a few of these I never used. |
This one has great color and more modern prints. Only one of these left! |
Eden. One of my favorite fabric collections! I believe there are still a few listed but I don't expect this one to last very long. It's the perfect colors for the coming spring and Easter. |
This one has been out of print for awhile. I have been hanging on to it and just decided it was time to let it go. I have so many more fabrics I really love and can't part with. |
Countdown to Christmas. This one is a fairly new collection (2012 I believe) and I have a few of them left. This fabric has been selling fast. |
Frolic. Very fun and bright fabric line. Just in time for the spring! Would make a really nice table runner for your spring decor. I only have one of these. |

A Piece of Cake Quilt Tutorial
So, as promised, here is my very first tutorial ever! As I said in yesterday's post, it's really very quick and easy.
Before we get down to business I'd like to clear up a few things. First, I came up with this idea one afternoon quite a while ago while trying to find something new to do with a layer cake. Is this an original idea? I can't say for sure that it is. There are probably similar ideas out there, I've just never seen or used them. This is simply my idea and how to do it. Second, it's my first tutorial and I'm quite a bit nervous to even be posting it since there are so many wonderful and talented quilting ladies out there with tons of tutorials and I kind of feel like what could i possibly do that is as great as their ideas? This morning after pep-talking myself for quite a while I decided I was being stupid and I really should just go ahead and share my idea. After all, I've already had a few people asking me how to make one of these quilts so obviously there's interest.
Now, let's get down to business. If anything isn't clear, please leave a comment and I'll answer all questions in the comment section.
For the tutorial, I'll be using a layer cake of 10 Little Things by Jenn Ski for Moda fabrics. For those of you that don't know what a layer cake is - it's a collection of 42 - 10" squares from one fabric collection. It's an excellent way to get all the fabrics from a collection without having to spend a lot of money on yardage.
So, first you have to unwrap your lovely little layer cake. |
Now, once you are satisfied with your fabric layout, take a 4" rectangle and lay it RST (right-side together) on top of a 6" rectangle. You'll be sewing down the 10" length of the fabric. I like to chain-piece here. It's much faster and you use less thread. Feel free to use whatever method you're comfortable with though!
Once all your seams are pressed you should have a stack that looks like this! Take this stack back to your cutting table. Yes, we are going to cut it again! |

Hullabaloo Quilt
Here is my Hullabaloo Quilt! I used a layer cake to make this quilt and it was so easy and quick and so much fun. I really enjoyed this pattern. It's one of those quilts that feels like mindless work (you know the ones? Where you don't have to think very hard to make a quilt? I love those quilts).
And look how nice it looks! I'll have a tutorial up tomorrow for this quilt. You'll love it. It's super easy and quick.
And for anyone interested in purchasing this quilt, it's available for sale in my etsy shop.
Purple Coins Baby Quilt
I just finished this little quilt a few days ago for a friend of mine that is due to have a baby girl any day now! Unfortunately she does not live close at all so I will have to mail it and not be able to give it to her in person.
I also managed to get a few of these cute little birdies knit up for the new baby and her big sister.
I so enjoy making these guys. They knit up really quickly and are great for using up small bits of a skein that I always seem to have lurking around. The eyes are safety eyes so they won't come off no matter how much a child pulls on them. I like to use these eyes over button or felt eyes just because it's so much safer. For any knitters out there, I'm sorry but I don't know what yarn it was I used in these. They were leftovers from another project and I no longer have the info. The pattern however is a free pattern on ravelry from Rebecca Danger. It's a very easy and beginner friendly knitting pattern. It was one of the first things I attempted to knit after graduating from scarves and hats.
I sure hope they enjoy these! Stay tuned for some more quilts tomorrow. I have finished up several during the past month and it was finally nice enough to get them photographed.
