Hullabaloo Quilt

Here is my Hullabaloo Quilt! I used a layer cake to make this quilt and it was so easy and quick and so much fun.  I really enjoyed this pattern.  It's one of those quilts that feels like mindless work (you know the ones? Where you don't have to think very hard to make a quilt? I love those quilts).

And look how nice it looks! I'll have a tutorial up tomorrow for this quilt.  You'll love it.  It's super easy and quick.

Purple Coins Baby Quilt

I just finished this little quilt a few days ago for a friend of mine that is due to have a baby girl any day now! Unfortunately she does not live close at all so I will have to mail it and not be able to give it to her in person.

I was very pleased with how this quilt turned out.  I used only scraps of fabric I had on hand and was even able to use fabric from my stash for the backing and binding.  It felt great to use up some of my stash and not have to buy anything for this quilt.  The nursery colors are purples and light blues so I thought this would go nicely.  That's my hubby back there holding the quilt up for me.  He's such a nice guy.  :)

I chose to cut my coin fabrics at 5" long and used varying widths of fabric according to what I had in my stash currently.  I was pleased that after finishing this quilt up, I could actually tell I had made a (small) dent in my purple scraps.  Don't you hate when you use up a bunch of scraps and it looks like for every piece you used two more appeared? 

And here's sweet hubby holding it up so I can get a picture with the backing fabric in it.  He's such a patient guy with me.  The most I've ever heard is a sigh from him.  I'm one of those "a little to the right", "no, no, I need you to hold it this way", "okay, only 10 more shots and then I think I'm done" kind of photographers.  He endures it well.

I also managed to get a few of these cute little birdies knit up for the new baby and her big sister.

I so enjoy making these guys.  They knit up really quickly and are great for using up small bits of a skein that I always seem to have lurking around.  The eyes are safety eyes so they won't come off no matter how much a child pulls on them.  I like to use these eyes over button or felt eyes just because it's so much safer.  For any knitters out there, I'm sorry but I don't know what yarn it was I used in these.  They were leftovers from another project and I no longer have the info.  The pattern however is a free pattern on ravelry from Rebecca Danger.  It's a very easy and beginner friendly knitting pattern.  It was one of the first things I attempted to knit after graduating from scarves and hats.

I sure hope they enjoy these!  Stay tuned for some more quilts tomorrow.  I have finished up several during the past month and it was finally nice enough to get them photographed.

Another Sale

Yep, you read the title right.  Another sale is coming to the shop soon.  I know I mentioned doing a tutorial (and I'm still planning on doing that soon!) but after we got home I got sick, then we had company, then I was sick again and then my husband left for a few weeks and I am not feeling well again.  So, needless to say, it's not been super fun around here.  I wanted to sew but just did not have the energy.

With all the time I've spent laying around and sulking because I can't get around and sew and craft and even do the stinkin' laundry I have also noticed that I have an overwhelming amount of fabric.  Seriously, I do.  It's no joke.  I need to get rid of it.  Fast.  Or it might ruin my marriage.  Well, it probably won't ruin my marriage, but it will sure make my man happy.  I'm talking smiling all day because everything is right in the world kind of happy.  I'd like to see that, so... I'm selling a lot of my fabric.  I have quite a few already listed on my etsy shop but I will be listing more, LOTS more over the next few weeks.  It's going to be nicely priced.  I have to get rid of it.  So take a look, and then take a few more looks over the next few weeks and tell all your fabric-loving friends and then buy some.  Please.  I beg you.  My husband begs you.

Still in Arizona

Well, we are still in AZ.  The drive down was long but still fun.  The boys always seem to do so well on long drives.  Part of it might be that I always pack plenty of things to keep them busy.  It also might be that we tend to do a lot of the driving through the night so they get to sleep a lot too.

And I know how boring a post without pictures is so I promise I'll get some pictures posted soon.  Tomorrow we are going out to a town called Oatman with my grandparents and Aunt so I'll get some pictures of that.  It's a neat little tourist town.

I hope everyone's week went well! I hope to be home by next week and crafting away again.  I have a few new things I'm wanting to try sewing up so be prepared for some new tutorials in the next few weeks.

A New Year and a New Sale

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year with their loved ones.  We had our little guys in bed by 9:15 and then me and the husband mostly snoozed through the ringing in of the new year.  I did decide however, that the New Year warranted a generous sale in the shop.  30% off seems good.  Through Jan. 15th.

I have made a few new things and added them to the shop last nite.  Reusable snack and sandwich bags.  They are very neat!  I'm excited about them.  Please stop by my shop and check them all out.  There are many different colors and fun prints.  Here's a peek at some of them.

This one is one of my favorites.  I love the lazy little bee pattern and it makes me think of spring.  As much as I love fall and winter (and that's a lot!) I start really missing my garden and listening to the birds while I sip tea in the morning.  This one is a mini size snack bag.

And how fun is this print right? I could not resist purchasing this fabric.  I'm a sucker for super cute gnomes.  I used up all my scraps of this fabric so there are currently two of these available in the shop and that's all I have! Perfect little size for pretzels or mixed nuts in a child's luchbox or take it with you to the office.

Here's an inside view of this one.  I made all of these bags with a fold-over closure (just like the old sandwich bags from when I was a kid!) and I love it this way.  There's no velcro to gather crumbs.  No snaps to mess with.  Just a simple flip and it's closed, secure and ready to go!  It also makes it very easy for little hands to master opening and closing it on their own.

I love this green scrollwork fabric.  Can't remember where I picked it up or  who made it.  It was just a fat quarter and there was no info on the selvedge piece.

And since yellow and grey seem to be so popular right now, I thought I'd whip a few of these up too.

I'll update here on the blog periodically with more new goodies going to the shop.  We are driving down to Arizona later today (we being me, Jake and the boys).  My grandma has been in the hospital and recently went home after having several surgeries on her heart.  So, we are on our way down to visit and help out for about a week.  I will leave the shop open, but please note that nothing will be shipping until around Jan. 10th.  On the plus side, this gives you more time to shop and buy and when I arrive home I will combine your orders and refund the extra shipping.
